Brancusi's Photograph of LES FILS PRODIGUE

Around 1907 Brancusi began to take photographs of his sculptures. The photographs he produced were usually out of focus, over or underexposed, scratched, or spotty. However, Brancusi insisted that the photographs he took of his sculptures were the only photographs to truly represent his work. For me these photographs place the sculptures in a different realm, a realm that can only exist within the medium of photography.
